NICK DOES THE TRICK
Hope Valley Hurricane Nick Hall claimed his third consecutive V6 Sprint Challenge Series feature win at Mt Gambier Borderline Speedway. Hall driving the Warner Fork Lifts SA8 claiming the 20 lap feature event in fine style as he greeted the chequered flag finishing ahead of hard charging Mark “BROWN DOG” Brown in the KJM SA25 beating home Mr Consistency Daryl Knuckey SA18
HEATS
Heat 1 at the Borderline Bullring; the surface was in top condition and provided some fast exciting racing, which saw Daryl Knuckey SA18 take the win ahead of Brendan Quinn SA14 (the Riverland speedster who put on another impressive drive), but Nick Hall SA8 carved his way through the pack from the back to finish 3rd and gaining valuable points.
Infield Blues; Unfortunately some racers experienced the infield blues, with Graham “BONES” Knuckey having mechanical gremlins in his SA78 Murphy, as did V72 Mark Sheen with his Razor Litre Sprint blowing a water hose, also on his return to racing SA44 Chad Allman finished Heat1 on the infield.
Heat 2; would see SA8 Nick Hall start off the front row next to SA25 Mark Brown, at the drop of the green Hall would lead the charge into turn one and not be challenged going on to set a new race record ahead of Mark Brown second and V72 Mark Sheen moving forward to claim 3rd after earlier having car problems in the previous heat race. Kate Wiese SA9 unable to gain any points due to a broken torsion hime joint, V20 Scott Bobstchinski falling short of the finish line also unable to gather much needed points.
A&B DASH
Dash A pole sitter Graham Knuckey SA78 battled hard late in the race to finish ahead of a hard charging Nick Hall, “LETHAL’ Lee Payne SA28 would finish 3rd.
Dash B saw likable Larrikin Scott Bobstchinski V20 lead from the drop of the green beating home Daryl Knuckey SA18, with Brendan Quinn finishing a solid 3rd place.
A MAIN
The Feature Race Start was aborted at the first turn, due to an altercation that left SA28 Lee Payne stranded in Turn One with a broken front end. A full restart saw Graham Knuckey SA78 get the jump on Scott Bobstchinski V20, with Nick Hall wasting no time challenging Bobstchinski for 2nd place & successfully completing the move on lap 3. Daryl Knuckey SA18 was next to make a move on Bobstchinski when he left the door open for Knuckey to slide to the bottom & complete the pass moving into 3rd spot. At the half way point of the race Brendan Quinn SA14 broke a drive line leaving Kate Wiese SA9 nowhere but to go riding Quinn’s right rear tyre which she then had a spectacular view of the sky for a brief moment before the car slammed down. Kate brought the SA9 BIOCYCLE STEALTH to a halt which brought on the caution lights. Graham Knuckey SA78 who had played his JOKER CARD came unstuck with problems on the caution laps, so had to pull infield which ended his night after leading the race to that point. The restart saw Hall making it hard for anyone to make a pass for the lead, showing great car speed with a good car setup. Nick Hall would greet the chequered flag in front of Mark Brown SA25 charging from the back of the pack to finish 2nd ahead of Daryl Knuckey SA18 in 3rd & Scott Bobstchinski V20 with a fine drive to finish 4th and Chad Allman S44 finishing 5th.
